At Emerson Educational Consulting, we are committed to helping students and graduate school candidates find and apply to colleges and universities where they will be academically successful and happy.
We prioritize getting to know our students, and understanding their goals so that we can provide specific, meaningful and personalized guidance. There are lots of great schools out there, including some that are right for you. You are more than a transcript and a standardized test score; let’s work together to turn your two-dimensional applications into showcases for your three-dimensional personality.
Your college years should be a time for exploration and new experiences. In the words of Dr. J. S. Lehman, former Cornell president: “May you frequently travel beyond the places that are comfortable and familiar, the better to appreciate the miraculous diversity of life.” We enjoy helping students find exciting and challenging places in which to do this.
Students seek help from EEC for all different reasons. Some want specific guidance on an issue or two; others seek guidance throughout the application process, or even earlier. Applying to college or graduate school can be overwhelming; students work with us to minimize stress and maximize results.
As a first generation college student, Marilyn is proud to mentor students at the Possibility Project, a New York City based non-profit focused on empowering at-risk teenagers to take control of their future.

Parent Emory University class of 2021
Mrs. Emerson has been extremely helpful in my college search journey, from our discussions to compile a well-balanced list to the essay editing process. She is always available to meet, and I greatly appreciate her professional advice and support along the way.
I encourage everyone to work with Marylin. As a parent, I was so proud to receive not only the admission letters but so happy and relieved to see the financial packages and there are no words that can express my happiness and the gratitude that I have for Marilyn for making that possible.
